Block magnet made of samarium-cobalt (SmCo), magnetized over dimension H (axial), operating temperature up to approx. 250 °C, 350 °C. Samarium-cobalt magnets (SmCo) are a brittle and hard material with a high energy product. Compared to AlNiCo or ferrite magnets, smaller shapes can be used with the same holding force. Compared to NdFeB magnets, SmCo magnets are more heat-resistant. They are only supplied in an anisotropic version. Magnetization takes place exclusively in the preferred direction. Strong opposing fields do not weaken the magnetic field. SmCo magnets are resistant to corrosion, but not to inorganic acids and alkalis.
