Samarium cobalt magnets (SmCo) impress with excellent magnetic properties, high temperature resistance, and outstanding corrosion resistance. Thanks to their high intrinsic coercivity, they are particularly resistant to external demagnetizing fields and provide reliable performance even under demanding conditions.
In most applications, no additional surface coating is required. This makes SmCo magnets suitable for use in harsh environmental conditions. Their high Curie temperature also makes them significantly more temperature-resistant than NdFeB magnets.
Samarium cobalt magnets are available in the material grades Sm2Co17 and SmCo5. Sm2Co17 offers particularly stable magnetic properties at high temperatures, while SmCo5 provides good machinability and can be magnetized at lower field strengths.
